Parent/Teacher Conferences
When we meet with your parents, what do you think Martha and/or I will say to them regarding how you've done thus far?
I have confidence in my work so far in 8th grade, and my hope is that my teachers agree. In literature with Martha, I think that I improved over the course of reading The Secret Life of Bees. My written points may have gotten stronger, I think that I had a high quiz average, and I think that overall, I did well. Perhaps my work was not great, or the best in the class, but at least I feel that I have refined my lit abilities since last year. In RCG, I feel that my work was good on the project I completed with Eliot about Australian Aborigines. Maybe you will tell them that I talk during class some, but personally, I don't think a whole lot. Also, you may (hopefully) say that I have been better at picking up after myself, something I will continue to work on throughout the year.
What would you like us to tell them?
My mom know how hard I work for school and that brings me success, but sometimes I feel as if she doesn't fully appreciate the effect of my efforts. At least I think my work is high quality, and I want her to know that my the hours I stay up late at night are for something that matters. My mom has bugged me about being selfish and lazy when I leave out my belongings, so I would be grateful if you were to tell her that I have been better in that regard (if you think that is true).
Is there anything you do not want us to tell them?
I would sort of prefer if you didn't say anything about my accidental comment this week during read aloud, but if you want to say something about it, I suppose I'd be fine with that, too. Everything that happens at school should be open to my parents, so that they can have their judgement on it with praise or reprimand.
